Food & Drink
Great food is an essential element of every catered chalet experience with The Great Escape. We only employ qualified chefs or hosts that cook for a living, who will guarantee our high level of service. Our chefs design their own menus drawing on their own experiences to reflect in the menu.
On your first evening, during your chalet host’s welcome speech, you will be offered an aperitif and nibbles to kick off your holiday. A pre-dinner drink and nibbles are then offered on every other catered evening. After a good nights sleep , we will start your ski day by offering an extensive breakfast menu consisting of a cooked option, freshly baked French bread, croissants & pains au chocolat, porridge, a choice of cereals, fruit, yoghurts, fruit juices, teas, coffee & hot chocolate.
Whilst you are enjoying yourself on the slopes, your hosts will have laid out afternoon tea with home-made cakes or biscuits for your return.
You will have had a long day in the fresh air doing lots of exercise (we won’t mention the long lunch or the mulled wine stops or the après ski – we promise) and we will ensure that you will be able to sit back, relax and be catered for.
Whether you choose to soak away those aches and pains in the hot tub, have a massage or simply kick back in front of the log fire with a drink, you can be assured that your Chef and chalet hosts are busy preparing everything for a great evening.
Ambiance is key in all of our chalets and our staff are there to light the fire, offer you a pre-dinner drink and nibbles and to talk through the days events and suggest some alternative adventures for the next day. They will then welcome you to the candle lit dining table where you can enjoy the sumptuous 4 course dinner prepared by your own Chef. The evening meal is completed by unlimited high quality table wines and is concluded with coffee and chocolates served in the lounge by the roaring log fire. If you still have a little space left then you can always help yourselves to the good value honesty bar after the evening meal. If, during your stay, there is a special occasion – a birthday, engagement, anniversary – and you would like us to organize a cake and decorations or to suggest some extra special way of celebrating then please do not hesitate to ask our advice.
Our menu is flexible and caters for vegetarians and special diets including children’s early dinner if required. Just because you have paid a child price does not mean that your child has to have the children’s early dinner. This is your choice. For the children’s dinner we try to offer a healthy and balanced meal whilst equally finding out likes and dislikes from parents first.
Your chalet hosts have one day off a week. On this day, breakfast will be laid out and fresh bread delivered to your chalet. Your hosts will be delighted to recommend and book a local restaurant for your evening meal. Or equally you may be tempted by one of our mountain dinner with torch-lit descent nights or an overnight stay in a mountain refuge.

Catered Chalet Service
When booking a catered chalet holiday in Morzine you will want to ensure that you are being looked after by a professional and experienced team run by an established company. We know that in order for this to work we have to be both organized and flexible. From the moment you enquire right through to when we are sadly waving goodbye to you at the airport, we strive to make sure that everything runs smoothly. We are a small team dedicated to providing a personal service and this ensures that we can listen to those little requests which make a holiday not just good but great!
We all know that it is the little things that make all the difference and we know that this difference is what makes us different!
All rooms boast fresh, white bed linen and a large bath and hand towel per person. We provide extra towels for the hot tub areas. There are also dressing gowns for your use, plus toiletries and hairdryers. Rooms are cleaned every day (if vacated by 10.30) with the exception of the staff day off. We also offer a turn down service (please just ask).
We are able to offer a concierge service to the slopes with all of our chalets making that first day in particular run just that little bit more smoothly. At the time of booking we discuss any ski and snowboard school requirements that you may have and will introduce you to various options that suit your needs.
Ski hire delivered to the door
When you arrive in resort we understand that one of the last things that you want to do is traipse around the resort looking for ski hire. This is why we have teamed up with the wonderful All Mountain Rental Ski Hire (AMR). AMR offer a great service. All you do is pre-book online (20% reduction for doing this so a good reason to be organized). Then when you arrive in resort we call the shop and they come to the chalet and kit you out with your pre-ordered equipment. Their trained technicians call you down one by one to the boot room to fit your boots and skis or snowboards. No need for everyone to traipse down to the shop and all wait for each other. You can just sip your welcome drink in front of the log fire until you are called down for your fitting. If something is not quite right then they just pop you in their van and whisk you to their shop so that you can choose an alternative.
Pre-ordered lift passes
Portes du Soleil lift pass can also be pre-ordered through us. If pre-ordered then there is no need to pay until during the course of your stay and there is no credit card charge. You can just concentrate on getting on that first lift! No queues, no extra cost, no bother. Just another service we offer.

Yes you may think a ski holiday is all about racing down the mountain and never any time to relax and take it a little time for yourself. However, we are here to remind you that it is ok! You can stop! You can relax! If racing down the hills has taken its toll on your legs or you just think that after a relax in the hot tub that you might just want to be pampered a little more then let us book a massage, or a manicure or a facial! We work alongside two companies who have shown over the years to offer a professional service to our wide range of guests. Mountain Rehab is owner run and operated by Sarah and Mal Stephens.
